Apron Making

I have recently become very interested in making aprons out of old, unwanted material. I like to use a different apron in my kitchen nearly every day so it's great to have a variety of aprons to suit my mood! Here is my first attempt at apron making.

I was at the local thrift shop last week and picked up an old, floral blouse, which I subsequently transformed into this pretty little apron! It was a fun excercise in recycling. I usually head to the thrift shop about once a month to see what I can find. And I nearly always turn my purchases into mini projects to transform them into something nicer / prettier / more useful! Have you ever picked up something old and turned it into something new?

In other news, we received a new member at our feminine womanhood society this week. She is a young woman who was a feminist until recently when she got married. After her wedding she realised how important it is to serve her husband and has spoken to us of her ignorance before her marriage. She is grateful that her eyes have been opened and all of us in the group are also thankful for this. Marriage is such an important sacrament.

I love your apron - I wish I could sew. I wold make a ton of them. I'd love to hear more about womanhood society. I have never heard of it before. But then again, I live in PA which is a decidedly blue state.

Love,
Julie

Love it! I need to sew an apron for my niece for Christmas. I have the fabric waiting to get started.

I just think it is wonderful to hear you gave up your carrier to become a full time homemaker. It is a wonderful way to live life and so many don't venture there any longer. I am grateful that I can stay at home full time and love making my home a comfortable place for my husband and I. Enjoy yourself!

I remember that exact material from when I was little... My grandmother made all my clothes until I was about 10, and boy, when I wore some of them you could see me coming a mile away they were so bright.. lol
Great apron... You have inspired me to get busy sewing, even though I lost my sewing machine... lol

About being a homemaker... I am waiting for the owner of the store where I work to sell, and once it's sold, I am going to be a stay at home homeschooling mom! I can't wait! :)
It's a bit scary, thinking of living on my dh's meager income, but any sacrifice is worth staying home... :)

I am getting into the mood to make some aprons, too. I think I'll do that after Christmas. I have some fabrics that would make cute little aprons, I think.

Beautiful apron - great job! I recently purchased some patterns for some aprons and I have the fabrics all picked out. I just haven't yet had the opportunity to get started. I love aprons and collect them too. I have some cute little hooks in my kitchen where some of them are displayed!

I too am a stay at home mom and I thank God every day for blessing us with the ability for me to do it! My husband works so very hard but being able to raise our children at home is definitely worth the sacrifice. I wouldn't trade it for the world and I so enjoy making our house a home for my family!!

Blessings to you!
